Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Workshop

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Workshop

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are stressful or traumatic events, including abuse and neglect. They may also include household dysfunction such as witnessing domestic violence or growing up with family members who have substance misuse. ACEs are strongly related to the development and prevalence of a wide range of health problems throughout a person’s lifespan, including those associated with substance misuse.

Early Adverse Childhood Experiences disrupt the development of the brain, which may lead to impairment of social, emotional and cognitive skills and knowledge often leaving them behind educationally.

This workshops covers the following areas:

What are ACEs
Spotting the Signs and Triggers
Effective Strategies and Intervention for children coping with Trauma
Long Term Impact of ACE's
Primary Domains of Impairment

Our Principles

Exposure to new experiences, venture and skills are essential to develop a young person’s confidence and desire to learn

An educational environment should be inviting and a place in which young people want to be because it meets their needs and their interests

Innovative without the prescription of linear education
